Civil Law

In addition to the rights that people acquire at birth; whether they can make legal transactions according to various conditions such as age, mental health and whether they are restricted for various reasons, whether they have the capacity to make transactions, how they come of age, their obligations to act in good faith and honesty, their rights and obligations in cases of residence, engagement, marriage and divorce, Civil Law is the source of many regulations regarding human life, such as the acquisition of immovable property, rights of disposition on immovable property, death, dispositions that may be made upon death and their limits, the rights and obligations of heirs upon death, and the distinction between natural persons and legal entities.

Civil Law is divided into 4 sub-branches.

These are;

Law of Persons
Family Law
Inheritance Law
Property Law

The Civil Code is a general law that contains many regulations between individuals such as the Law of Persons, Family Law, Inheritance Law and Property Law. The Civil Code No. 743 dated 1926 was repealed by the “Turkish Civil Code” No. 4721 dated 22/11/2001 and published in the Official Gazette dated 08/12/2001 and numbered 24607. Law No. 4721 is still in force.
